Name: OOAK Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Doll

Made by and When: The Curator, 2022

Material: Vinyl

Height: 11-1/2 inches

Hair, Eyes, Mouth: Curled, rooted black microbraids; brown-painted eyes, smiling mouth

Clothes: A black robe designed specifically for this doll by Tamisha McPherson that has a removable white lace collar is worn over Barbie Basics Model #10’s little black dress with black flat shoes. The plunging neckline of the dress was modified for modesty. Accessories include black eyeglasses, drop pearl earrings, and a pearl necklace.

Other: Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson made history as the first African American woman to be nominated by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the U. S. Senate as Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022. The curator of this museum fashioned a doll to represent Justice Jackson. It Takes Two Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts is the doll used for the customization. The process of creating this doll as a one-of-a-kind portrait doll of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is outlined here.
