Name: Oil-painted Cloth Doll Family
Made by and When: Nancy Stern, circa 1970s-1980s
Material: Cloth, paint, mixed textiles, cotton, stuffing materials
Marks: Signed and dated by the artist
Height: The adults are 16 and 17 inches tall, and the baby is 7 inches tall.
Hair, Eyes, Mouth: The adults have cotton-fiber-type hair. The baby’s hair is painted. All dolls have hand-painted facial features with brown eyes and painted pink lips.
Clothes: Dressed as shown in early-to-mid 1900s-style clothing, the men wear denim pants and cotton shirts. The women wear calico-print full-length dresses. The baby wears a full-length gown and a matching bonnet.
Other: Doll families that include grandparents are rarely made. This family of one-of-a-kind dolls represents grandparents, parents, and a baby.
